Addiction Medicine Fellowship

The Swedish Family Medicine Residency Cherry Hill sponsors a one year fellowship in Addiction Medicine for Family Medicine physicians.  Completion of the Fellowship qualifies the graduate to sit for the board exam administered by the American Board of Addiction Medicine.  The purpose of the Fellowship is to provide advanced training to Family Medicine physicians interested in developing expertise in addiction medicine and management of substance dependent pregnant women.  The fellowship has a strong focus on teaching opportunities and academic growth, including didactic sessions, buprenorphine training for residents and local providers, and educational rounds in addition medicine. Leadership and community engagement are optimized in addition to consultation and liaison opportunities. Fellows are encouraged to participate in research efforts and collaboration.

 Fellows spend the majority of their time working at the Swedish-Ballard inpatient addiction recovery unit.  The unit provides 15 inpatient beds for detoxification primarily from alcohol, sedative-hypnotics, and opiates. In addition, the site has 14 beds devoted to the care of pregnant women with substance use disorders where fellows provide detoxification, medication assisted therapy and medical and obstetrical care.  The fellows spend 20% of their time seeing general clinic patients and precepting in the residency clinic at Swedish Family Medicine Cherry Hill and 10% of their time is spent in the OB Outreach clinic within the residency seeing substance dependent pregnant women.

 Qualifications: applicants should have completed a three year family medicine residency and have interest in working with underserved populations and with substance dependent pregnant women.

Integrative Medicine Fellowship

The Swedish Cherry Hill Family Medicine Program is committed to providing excellence in education to all of the residents in Integrative Medicine. In alignment with this, we have created a one year fellowship which will allow for pursuit of expertise in this area. During this year, the fellow will obtain advanced training in Integrative Medicine through both primary care and consult clinic, attending on the Family Medicine Service, and precepting in clinic.

The fellowship can be customized to meet the needs and interests of the particular fellow. We want the fellow to graduate with practical skills and expertise in Integrative Medicine. There will be foundational curriculum in Integrative Medicine for all fellows including nutrition, botanicals, mind-body medicine, botanical medicine, and spirituality in medicine. In addition, the fellow will choose an area of particular interest to pursue through CME, self-directed learning and work with area practitioners.

Qualifications: applicants should have completed a three year family medicine residency and have interest in working with underserved populations.

Fellowship duties:

The fellowship is 60% clinical and 40% protected time for pursuit of an expertise in a chosen area of Integrative Medicine and Self-Care.  Clinical training includes Integrative Medicine Consultation Clinic at the Cherry Hill site, attending on the Family Medicine Service, precepting in clinic and regular didactics to residents.  Fellows will maintain skills by doing primary care clinic at the Cherry Hill site as well as Obstetrics.  The program has a strong mission for underserved populations. 

The Director of the fellowship, Dr. Tanmeet Sethi, completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, is faculty for The Center of Mind Body Medicine, and has expertise in Ayurvedic and functional medicine.

Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship

The Swedish Sports Medicine Program offers an ACGME-accredited sports medicine fellowship for one family medicine and one physical medicine graduate per year. Our fellows have the opportunity to participate in one of the few combined family medicine and physical medicine sports medicine fellowships in the country. Each fellow, who will work closely together, will complete required rotations and sports coverage responsibilities, along with two months of elective time.
