R3: Harborview Emergency Medicine (Trauma) Rotation
Harborview Emergency Medicine (Trauma) Rotation
This is a four-week experience in a regional Level I adult and pediatric trauma and burn center. In the ED setting, residents learn the initial management of serious trauma and illnesses, learn to competently treat simple acute illness and differentiate those which are appropriate presentation for the ER, understand what constitutes low- and high-mechanism trauma and what patient evaluation is needed, and provide for the ongoing care of patients who have been evaluated elsewhere and referred to the trauma center. Residents are supervised by board-certified Emergency Medicine attending physicians as well as second-year general surgery, plastic surgery, and emergency medicine residents.
